10 Best Mission: Impossible Gadgets

5. Explosive Gum

A true, outlandish classic, which almost certainly drew inspiration from the creative arsenal of the 007 films, the pocket-size 'two-in-one mint and strawberry flavour' exploding chewing gum is one of Mission: Impossible's defining gadgets.

The premise for the gum is simple - mix the red and the green side together to create a chemical reaction, stick it to the surface of your choosing and pop your fingers in your ears. It may not pack the punch of a block of C4, but the gum is enough to put a dent in any breakable surface.

Given to him by soon-to-be-dead agent Jack Harmon (Emilio Estevez), Ethan uses the gum multiple times in the original film, first to blow up and escape from the glass facade of a fish tank-based restaurant in Prague, and then in the climactic sequence, attaching it to the windshield of villain Jim Phelps's (Jon Voight) helicopter in the Channel Tunnel.
