10 Best Mission: Impossible Stunts

3. Halo Jump: Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2019)

Guess what? This shouldn't have been possible either.

A halo jump is a military exercise that was never really supposed to be done for entertainment purposes. Hypoxia and the bends are just two things that can afflict the unprepared skydiver. Not that this deterred any member of the Mission: Impossible stunt crew.

The death-defying jump from the jet was done at 25 000 feet and, besides the lightning strike seen in the movie, is about as real as you can get. Not only is Tom Cruise falling out the sky, but he is also working to maintain the correct distance between him and the cameraman, who is obviously enduring the same level of danger. Plus they had a finite window to capture the required sunlight conditions.

The coordination and planning required for this was off the charts. There was an uncountable number of things which could have gone wrong. Just to tweak the pressure that little bit more, they only had one take available, and then this opportunity was gone forever.

They nailed it, and it looked incredible on film.
