10 Best Movie Deaths Of 2019

1. Tony Stark (Avengers: Endgame)

Avengers: Endgame Tony Stark Iron Man
Disney

Heading into Avengers: Endgame, it was Captain America, not Iron Man, who had been marked for death by most fans.

The general consensus was that he'd retire to a married life with Pepper, and while that prediction technically wasn't wrong, the character went one major step further by snapping away his own life in order to save the Earth.

One of the best things about this scene was how it marked the end of an impressive character transformation for Tony, with us audiences watching him go from a selfish playboy to the literal saviour of the universe over the span of a decade. His death felt like the logical capper on all that change, and while it was sad, it also felt right, like everything had been building to this moment.

Knowing Tony for such a long time made his death feel like a personal loss, and while the other deaths on this list were creative or just entertaining to watch, this is one that we'll be talking about for decades to come.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
