10 Best Movie Sequels That Start IMMEDIATELY After The Last Film's Ending

7. Fast Five

Last Jedi
Universal Pictures

Ah, remember the days when the barmiest thing our favourite team of street-racers-turned-heist-attempters were caught doing involved them hijacking lorries or springing folks from prison?

You'd be forgiven for admitting the memories of those simpler times have been thoroughly blown to bits by never-ending train fights and the catching of cars in recent times. But I'm here to remind you that before Dom and the gang decided to take things up a notch by dragging safes around Rio, Fast Five actually kicked off in a similarly grounded vein to its predecessors.

That's grounded by Fast's standards, OK?

With Toretto being sentenced to jail time in the closing beats of Fast & Furious, Brian, Mia, Leo and Santos all arrive beside a bus holding the beefcake to seemingly help him make a great escape. And Fast Five wastes no time showing us exactly how that grand plan unfolds, with the crew flipping said vehicle and incredibly not killing every single person within it. Because FAMILY survives ALL.

Dom is later revealed to be safe and sound and freshly freed, and Fast Five smashed us into the insanity era of Fast flicks with an almighty bang.
