10 Best Movie Soundtracks Of 2015
9. Birdman
The Film: Birdman directed by Alejandro Inarritu and winner of the 2015 Academy Award for Best Picture (along with Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, too) tells the story of Riggan Thomson (played by Michael Keaton). Riggan is a Hollywood actor past his prime, his most celebrated role being that of the superhero Birdman. The film is set against the backdrop of an upcoming Broadway production of Raymond Carver's short story What We Talk About When We Talk About Love.
The Soundtrack: Throughout the film the camera bends and weaves through the back corridors of the theatre, hopping from character to character, and all of this movement is brilliantly tied together by Antonio Sanchez's fast-paced, intense drum-heavy score (though there's also a bunch of work by famous classical composers and jazz musicians which is brilliant too). Talking about the significance of the drums used, Sanchez told Berklee:"The drums, for me, was a great way to find the rhythm of the film... In comedy, rhythm is king, and not having the tools of editing to determine time and space, I knew I needed something to help me find the internal rhythm of the film."Best Track: Doors And Distance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_2eNgkWGns
