10 Best Movie Title Drops Ever

4. The Dark Knight

Jurassic Park Richard Attenborough
Warner Bros.

The Line: "Because he's not a hero...he's a silent guardian, a watchful protector, a Dark Knight."

Sometimes the absolute best way to drop the title of your movie is at the very last second, but this is especially hard since it has to sum up the hero's arc as well as the theme of the movie in a conclusive fashion suitable for the end of a film.

In this flick - for all intents and purposes - Batman loses. Hard. He stops the Joker, yes, but the dude makes it clear that Bruce will be seeing him again. And then he has to kill Harvey Dent in order to save Commissioner Gordon's son. And to top it all off, he covers up Harvey's crimes as Two-Face and takes the heat for his murder in order to preserve the hopeful image that he represented.

Which is the ultimate meaning behind the title of the movie, as well as Gordon's speech at the end. Batman is a dark knight. And dark knights don't get happy endings.

Especially when their follow up movie is The Dark Knight Rises.
