9. Legally Blonde

Rocky Sylvester Stallone
MGM

Brushing its awful successors to one side, the original Legally Blonde is actually very entertaining. Sure, its stereotype-based humour does feel a little dated at this point, but regardless, it's a simple and effective transformation comedy with an amazingly charming Reese Witherspoon performance.

If you're unfamiliar with the concept, Legally Blonde follows Elle, a popular, attractive fashion student who also happens to be quite (extremely) ditzy. After being dumped by her boyfriend in order to preserve his career-focused image, she follows him to law school and attempts to prove that she's more than just a pretty face.

Yes, it's a very predictable movie, but there are lots of chuckles to be had with its fish-out-of-water premise, and it's easy to forgive the formulaic plot because of how unabashedly enjoyable the whole thing is. Witherspoon is on top form too, and her endearing, convincingly dumb performance elevates the whole thing. She also pioneered the "bend and snap" move too, which is something. We've all tried it.
