10 Best Musical Moments In 2013 Movies

1. The Whole Movie - The Bling Ring

Bling Ring Sofia Coppola has proven herself to be one of the best directors when it comes to compiling the soundtracks to her movies - as is the case with her contemporary Quentin Tarantino (who she used to date, oddly), you get the sense that Coppola complies her soundtracks before she starts shooting the movie, and then edits the footage to what she envisioned in her head. Which is to say, whereas the musical tracks she chose for films like Lost in Translation and Marie Antoinette were utterly brilliant, she might well have complied the best soundtrack of her career here. It's so great, in fact, that it's near-on impossible to pick a specific scene or moment from the movie. There are comparisons to be made between the hype-realistic, care-free attitude of the Spring Breakers soundtrack and this one, of course, given the similar themes inherent to both movies, but Coppola's picks make more of an impact because of just how in your face they are from the very beginning to the very end of the picture. If we had to pick a favourite cut, though, it's be the track that plays over the movie's abrasive title sequence - "Crown on the Ground" by Sleigh Bells. Like this article?
