10 Best Non-Christmas Christmas Movies

7. Catch Me If You Can (2002)

Die Hard
Amblin Entertainment

On the surface, Catch Me If You Can is about as far from a Christmas movie as one can get. The film is all about a con artist who gets into the game while still a teenager and finally gets caught at the age of 19.

The film was based on the true story of its pro/antagonist, Frank Abagnale Jr. and the man who tracked him down, FBI Agent Carl Hanratty. There really isn't anything Christmasy about that plot summary, but Christmas played enough of an important role in this movie to land it on this list.

Throughout the film, Frank manages to make a phone call to Agent Hanratty on one day each year he is on the run: Christmas. He calls him several times to discuss his activity and even once told him where he was.

When the film concluded, Hanratty managed to catch up with Abagnale on a particular day... Christmas! The major events spread across the film's multi-year pursuit all occur on Christmas, which is why this movie is, at its core, a Christmas movie.
