10 Best One-Hit-Wonder Actors

7. Peter Ostrum

Bill And Ted
Paramount Pictures

He may not be a household name, but there's little chance you don't recognize Peter Ostrum's eponymous character from Charlie & The Chocolate Factory. When Ostrum landed the role in the 1971 film, it was considered a huge break for any would-be actor, but it remains his sole acting credit to this day.

Ostrum decided early on that he wanted to walk away from acting, and he stands as one of the few child stars whose life didn't explode into a pit of drugs, alcohol, and utter chaos as he transitioned into adulthood. In fact, Ostrum went on to become a successful veterinarian.

His interest in animals began when his family acquired a horse, which he groomed and took care of whenever possible. He was even more interested in the horse's veterinarian, and he decided to follow that path as he embarked on his undergraduate studies and graduate.

Ostrum received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the prestigious Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, and he's been a practicing doctor ever since. He has appeared as himself in a few documentaries and "where are they now" specials hosted by the likes of Oprah Winfrey, but beyond that, he's never looked back at his acting career.
