10 Best One-Off Characters In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

7. Dr. Abraham Erskine

Without Dr. Erskine, there would be no Captain America. Played by Stanley Tucci in Captain America: The First Avenger, Erskine creates Captain America in more ways than one. Not only does he develop the super soldier serum which gives Steve Rogers his powers, he also teaches him important lessons.

Everyone, including Steve, is confused as to why Erskine picked this skinny Brooklyn boy to become a super soldier instead of a more physically adept fighter.

Erskine explains that the serum amplifies what is already there: bad people would become worse, while good people would become better. He teaches Steve about the value of strength and compassion. He tells him to "Stay who you are, not a perfect soldier, but a good man."

Though Erskine is killed fairly early on in the film, his wisdom lives on through Steve's actions throughout the rest of the MCU. Though Steve becomes a perfect soldier, he remains a good man thanks to Erskine.
