9. Claire Foy (The Girl In The Spider's Web)

This stagnant re-tooling of the English-language Millennium "franchise" may be a disappointingly generic and forgettable offering, but there's absolutely no faulting Claire Foy, who firmly holds her own as legendary computer hacker Lisbeth Salander.

Granted, she doesn't have a whole lot to work with character-wise and it can't help but be an inferior portrayal compared to both Noomi Rapace and Rooney Mara's efforts. With a stronger script, however, Foy's physical performance absolutely would've measured up.

As it stands, Foy's unconventional casting in an "edgy" part like this pays off, but it's ultimately hard not to see her as mostly wasted regardless. An actress of her repute clearly deserves better.
