10 Best Pre-Credit Sequences In James Bond Movies

7. Skyfall

Spectre Day Of The Dead
Eon Productions

A fantastic opening sequence which was far more elaborate, exciting and easier to process than what had occurred in the previous Daniel Craig entries to the franchise. The sequence takes place primarily in Turkey as Bond and Moneypenny attempt to deal with an operation gone wrong, with orders coming through in real time from M in her office in London.

While an agent who has stolen a precious disk is the primary villain of the scene, Judi Dench's M is also cast as a bad guy, making insensitive and poor judgement calls throughout. This works in putting Bond front and centre as the moral hero as well as undertaking actions that only the great British spy can.

A wonderful motorbike chase and pulsating fight above the top of a moving train follows, with the backdrop of Istanbul adding even more eye candy. Unlike the disastrous depiction of the city represented in Taken 2, Skyfall shows off Istanbul and all its historical architecture in a glowing manner while also using it to amp up the action.

The humour in the scene is a little overstated, but the stunts are all first rate. The way 007 transports from a bulldozer to on board a train is astonishing, while Bond's accidental shooting at the hands of Moneypenny and subsequent fall into the water below is wonderful in its execution.
