10 Best Pre-Credit Sequences In James Bond Movies
6. Spectre
There wasn't a lot of positive things to be said for the fourth Craig outing as Bond, but there are plenty of positives to be said about the opening sequence. Sam Mendes returned as Director after the success of Skyfall and managed to one up himself with an even stronger opening scene.
Set during 'The Day of the Dead' celebrations in Mexico, the scene begins with a one shot take that shows Bond making his way through the crowded streets before proceeding upstairs and walking along the balconies of the buildings above. This alone is enough to make the scene work, but it goes to another level when Bond executes operatives planning an attack on Mexico City.
With buildings collapsing around him, a chase by foot turns into a fight in a helicopter, with Bond taking on both pilot and SPECTRE operative while trying to keep the chopper from crashing. The use of CGI and real life action blends seamlessly as we are left on the edge of our seats wondering not only how Bond will survive, but also if the people below them will also be safe.
Sadly the remainder of the film is a bit of a tired mess relying on old cliches and boring action scenes that lack all the daring displayed in its opening gambit.
