10 Best Side Characters In The MCU

8. Ned (Spider-Man: Homecoming)

MCU Supporting
Marvel Studios

The definitive guy in the chair.

Ned is Peter Parker's high school best friend in the series who gets some of the greatest one-liners to ever be muttered in a Marvel film. Rather than play the whole secret identity game, the young and often ill-equipped Peter accidentally reveals that he is Spider-Man when he crawls into his room and changes, only to realize that Ned has been there all along.

As a result, Ned gets to act as an equally ill-equipped voice of reason for Peter. He means well, but he is a high-school kid who has little else on his mind besides the benefits he could reap if Spider-Man showed up to a party and called him his friend.

He and Peter's camaraderie is genuine and heartfelt and it is great to see Ned finally get to fulfill his dream of acting as Peter's guy in the chair. He means well, even if he doesn't always have the best advice, he's funny, and he even saves Peter's life when Shocker is beating him to a pulp. He's more than your average guy in the chair, this guy gets to do some field work as well.
