10 Best Stephen King Cameos
5. Johnny B. Goode - Kingdom Hospital
Kingdom Hospital is Stephen King's mostly forgotten TV series from 2004. It is an adaptation of Lars Von Trier's The Kingdom, and focuses on the mysterious goings on in the titular hospital. There are physics, ghosts, ghouls and a man-eating anteater called Antubis, all being par for the course for King stories.
Sadly, the show's one and only season was bogged down by poor performances, an inconsistent plot and horrible pacing issues. All in all, it isn't a surprise that it has been forgotten about.
That being said, when King finally showed up in the series finale, it was something to behold. First appearing as a priest on the television, called Johnny B. Goode, King was preaching his words, which mysteriously linked to the events within the hospital. Then later, he appears as a mysterious utility man behind a desk in the hospital itself.
Everything about this moment makes King feel like a malicious, omnipotent being; someone who is pulling the strings and taking joy in the suffering he has caused. King is the writer of the series, and its creator. Never has a puppet master role been so fitting for one man.
He may not be the best actor in the world, but King was born to play a role like this. We believe that he is the reason for all the events of the show, in one very meta move. The show itself is not worth it, but that one performance is worth tuning in for.
