4. Man At Bank ATM - Maximum Overdrive

Maximum Overdrive is Stephen King's directorial debut. And there is a reason why it is his only directorial credit.

This bizarre and goofy 1980's film features a comet (or alien spaceship, the film itself isn't sure) bringing all the technology on Earth to live. They then go on a mass killing spree and lots of goofy gore and overacting hilarity ensue. It's one of those bad films that must be seen to be believed.

A kids getting run over by a steamroller, a man getting brained by a vending machine, our heroes getting chased by a truck with a goblin face on the engine. And Stephen King being called a rude name by a vindictive Bank ATM.

It is worth it for King's reaction. He overacts with a silly upper-class accent and calls out to his wife, telling her what the machine keeps calling him. Beautiful! It's the kind of thing that would not be out of place in an 80's horror classic like Gremlins or The Evil Dead 2.

Maximum Overdrive was made during the time that King was heavily under the influence of drugs, which may explain why the film is a goofball nightmare. The scene itself is easy enough to find. But if you want to watch the film as a whole... well, just be aware of what you are getting into.

It may not be at the level of Troll 2 or a certain other film on this list. But it's in the ballpark.
