10 Best Superhero Films Of The 2010s
2. Avengers: Endgame (2019)
....Until a year later.
After leaving fans salivating for a whole year, Endgame had even more to prove and boy-howdy did it do just that, finishing the Infinity Saga on an ideal note.
It's been 5 years since half of all life disappeared and the world is struggling to move on. Hope arrives in the form of Ant-Man who suggests a "time-heist" to pluck the Infinity Stones from the past and undo what Thanos did, returning all those who had been lost.
The time-travel trope is usually a get-out-of-jail-free card for a lot of franchises, with many saying that once it's introduced there are no more consequences. However, Endgame does an excellent job in explaining its rules about branching alternate realities, opening up a whole new world of possibilities for future films (and Disney+ shows). There's also the quandary of whether or not the lost should be found, with many people having moved on, including Tony Stark and his family, as well as the world being in a much better condition.
The film is full of amazing moments, from smaller moments like Tony getting closure with his father, to the big battle scenes at the end with every hero introduced in the movies getting their moment to shine. It ends on a perfect note, the journey is spectacular and emotional, and Robert Downey Jr gives his best performance in the franchise.
This wasn't a film, this was something truly special.
