And you thought you'd only have to see Spider-Man die in one movie this year.

There are almost too many incredible moments to choose from in Into the Spider-Verse, though surely the most jolting and unexpected has to be the death of the classic Peter Parker (Chris Pine) at the hands of the Kingpin (Liev Schreiber).

After a battle against the Green Goblin and the Prowler, a badly wounded Peter meets Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) and implores him to help stop Kingpin's plot to open up parallel dimensions. Moments later, Kingpin arrives and, as Miles watches from afar, the mobster brutally beats him to death.

In addition to setting the rest of the movie in motion and inspiring Miles to take up the Spidey mantle, the death scene and the subsequent mourning montage did a great job of showing how a superhero's demise would affect the average person.

And of course, it leads to that unforgettable cameo from Stan Lee, where he plays the owner of a comic book store who fittingly says of Peter, "I'm going to miss him. We were friends, you know."

I'm not crying, you're crying.
