10 Best Superhero Movies Of The 80s

4. The Adventures Of Buckaroo Banzai Across The 8th Dimension

Dimension traveling heroes always make for an intriguing watch. Buckaroo Banzai gave audiences just that in 1984. The premise of the movie was based on two scientists trying to invent a machine that would let them pass through solid matter.

Our main protagonist and his friend Dr Hikita, test this Oscillation Overthruster by driving a car straight through a mountain. But as we know all too well, these experiments never quite go to plan. Instead of emerging directly on the other side of the mountain, Banzai enters into the 8th dimension; an alien world filled with all kinds of danger. When he does return to the normal world, he finds a strange alien being attached to his car.

Things go from weird to deadly as during a press conference where Banzai explains his findings, he gets interrupted by a group of unknown assailants. Thanks to some unforeseen help, Banzai is able to see that his attackers were some kind of humanoid reptiles.

The plot is filled with twists and turns that make you genuinely root for Banzai. Again, it’s another movie that follows the basic archetype to draw audiences in and make them desperate to see the hero win.

After battling Galactus and pinning Hulk Hogan in the main event of Wrestlemania, I've taken a break from living in fantasy worlds, to focus on writing about them. I'm a comic book geek, a wrestling mark, a break dancer, and a scientist. One of those things may not be true.
