10 Best Supernatural Horror Movies Of The Last Decade
7. Paranormal Activity 3
Found footage as a genre has been... let's say... passable at best. For every Blair Witch Project there has been countless Grave Encounters. The genre exists as a cheap way for studios to make a lot of money.
Perhaps the most famous of these franchises is Paranormal Activity. The first film was a phenomenon and spawned numerous sequels and spin-offs. While the first film was a cultural hit, it is the third instalment that really stands head and shoulders above the rest.
Acting as a prequel for the first two entries, Paranormal Activity 3 showed us the origins of the demonic entity, now christened as "Toby". This concept is already intriguing, and while the story has a lot of development and lore, it is the filmmaking that truly shines in this outing.
The innovative spinning camera technique made for some truly chilling moments and some very good use of suspense. This all leads to a terrifying climax which allowed the trilogy to come full circle. It's a shame the franchise continued after this, but that doesn't take anything away from this incredible found footage piece.
