10 Best Teen Comedies Of The Decade

3. Eighth Grade

Eighth Grade
A24

Of all the films on this list, Eighth Grade is the one with the youngest protagonist, but don't let that make you believe this film is somehow less mature than the others. Writer-director Bo Burnham has portrayed the struggles of being 14 with so much wit, heart, and above all, humor.

If there's one thing that separates this film from every other coming-of-age film, it's just how dated it is. This film is set in the 2010s and it wants you to know it. There are numerous references to social media, pop culture, YouTubers, and even memes and slang.

But it's also exactly why so many people have fallen in love with it. The film just feels so current, like a time capsule of the current generation. Our relationship with the internet has made growing up so different, and Bo Burnham explores exactly that.

But even so, he still somehow makes this film completely accessible, no matter what generation you're from. If there's any film that'll remind you of just how awkward, confusing, and downright awful becoming a teenager can be, it's Eighth Grade.
