10 Best Times A Movie Character Returned From The Dead
7. Phil Connors - Groundhog Day
If anyone can make suicide funny, it's Bill Murray.
The Murr-ster's performance as grouchy, lecherous weatherman Phil Connors in Groundhog Day is one of his all-time best. Trapped in a never-ending loop of Sonny and Cher, Connors must become a better person if he is to escape Punxsutawney and return to his normal life.
When the idea of changing his wicked ways becomes too much for Phil, he decides that life just isn't worth living anymore. He kidnaps the groundhog that he believes is responsible for his torment and drives off a cliff, killing himself and the rodent.
Or so he thinks.
The next day (or the same day, actually) he wakes up, right back where he started. This leads to Phil killing himself in a number of different ways, including electrocution, being hit by a truck, and jumping off a roof.
Whether or not something like this would work today is another story, but the ridiculousness of Phil's repeated deaths (plus the fact that you know he's going to come back to life) make these scenes a hoot to watch.
But if this really isn't your thing, then that's fine too.
