10 Best Times A Movie Character Returned From The Dead

6. Count Dracula - Dracula: Prince Of Darkness

Can you come back from the dead if you were undead in the first place?

Yes, because this is our list, and we make the rules.

In that case, let's visit the 1966 Hammer horror film, Dracula: Prince of Darkness.

The late, great Christopher Lee returns to the role of the Count after getting binned off by Van Helsing in the first movie. His servant, Klove, is clearly after a raise, because he goes to some pretty extreme lengths to bring his master back to life.

He kidnaps tourist Alan Kent and suspends him upside down over a coffin full of the vampire's ashes. He then slits the man's throat, allowing his suspiciously lumpy looking blood to mix in with the soot.

After a slow transformation, steam fills the coffin as the music swells. Then, as it hits its crescendo, a fully formed hand reaches out.

Drac is back!

Considering man had yet to walk on the moon at this point in time, the special effects in this scene aren't half bad. It's also more visceral than you'd expect from a film of its vintage, contrasting with the melodrama that makes Hammer horrors so much fun to watch today.
