10 Best Times A Movie Character Returned From The Dead
3. Hector Barbossa - Pirates Of The Carribean: Dead Man’s Chest
Johnny Depp as a flamboyant pirate? A skeleton monkey? Garth from the UK office with a wooden eye? Who'd want to watch that? Well, as it turns out, lots of people did.
The first Pirates of the Carribbean film was such an unexpected success that Disney hastily made the decision to turn it into a trilogy. There was a problem with this though - one of the best parts of the first picture was lying dead in a cave.
Geoffrey Rush stole the show as Captain Hector Barbossa, the villainous first mate who stole Jack Sparrow's beloved vessel before becoming cursed with Aztec gold. Jack killed Barbossa in the film's closing duel, finally granting him a release from his immortal prison.
Or so he thought!
Barbossa was reintroduced right at the end of the second Pirates film, Dead Man's Chest, having been revived by the sorceress Tia Dalma. Not only was he back, but he was cured of his curse, as he demonstrated by chowing down on a nice crunchy apple.
It was great to see Barbossa back and a genuine surprise too. Shame about how the character ended up in Salazar's Revenge, but that's a story for another time.
