10 Best Tom Hardy Performances (So Far)

6. Ivan Locke - Locke

Bronson Tom Hardy
A24

It is a testament to Tom Hardy’s incredible acting skills that he is able to captivate an audience even when he is sitting in a car for the entirety of a movie, as he did in Locke.

Hardy portrays the title character in Locke, a construction worker whose professional and personal life begins to unravel over a series of phone calls he has whilst driving along the motorway.

A questionable Welsh accent aside, Hardy is flawless in this performance and is not hampered in the slightest by the film’s ambitious premise. Instead, every subtle movement and facial expression says a thousand words and keeps the audience on the edge of their seat in this intense thriller.

A strong cast of actors appear in off-screen roles, including Ruth Wilson and Olivia Colman, but Hardy is the undoubted star of this film and he brings to life Steven Knight’s script with one of his most impressive performances to date.
