10 Best Tom Hardy Performances (So Far)

5. Alfie Solomons - Peaky Blinders

Bronson Tom Hardy
BBC

The critically acclaimed BBC series, Peaky Blinders, first aired in 2013 and saw Tom Hardy join the cast during its second series, in yet another collaboration with Steven Knight.

Hardy plays the role of Jewish gang leader, Alfie Solomons, an unpredictable and feared figure in the criminal underworld of 1920’s England.

A disheveled beard, intense stare and raspy voice make Alfie a compelling character to watch. Sometimes an adversary and sometimes an ally of the patriarch of the Peaky Blinders, neither the audience nor Tommy Shelby ever really know where they stand with Solomons.

An uneasy atmosphere oozes from Hardy when he appears on screen as the viewer is left on tenterhooks as they try to figure out what the volatile Solomons' intentions are.

Hardy has been used sparingly throughout the show’s five series so far, but he is almost guaranteed to steal the show whenever he does appear.
