10 Best Villain Death Scenes In MCU History

8. Wenwu

For much of his life, certainly in the 1000 years since he discovered the Ten Rings, Wenwu was a power-hungry villain who would stop at nothing to increase his influence and stranglehold on the world. This wasn’t his motivation in Shang-Chi however.

Instead, Wenwu acted as he did in the run-up to his death out of grief. He was manipulated by the Dweller in Darkness from behind the forbidden door in Ta-Lo, and focused all of his power, energy, and resources on opening it.

He genuinely thought that he would find his lost love behind it. When he realised that what sat behind the door was instead a monster with the ability to destroy the universe, he saw the mistake he had made.

Wenwu accepted his death almost as a release from a life without Li, and allowed his soul to be eaten. In the moments before his death, he passed on the Ten Rings to his son. The move wasn’t enough to make him a hero before he died, but he did give Shang-Chi the tools he needed to save the universe.
