10 Best Winter Themed Horror Films

5. Frozen

Wind Chill Emily Blunt
Anchor Bay Films

This Frozen couldn't be any further from the fun-filled Disney classic we all know. This is a tense survival horror flick that was released in 2010. Written and directed by Adam Green, the chilling film stars Shawn Ashmore, Kevin Zegers, and Emma Bell as a group of students who decide to take a trip over winter break to a ski resort.

For the friends, everything seems to be going perfectly, until they decide to take the last ski lift ride that’s running before it closes for the season. Due to twisted and unhelpful events (this is a horror movie, after all), the posse all end up stuck at the top of a mountain on the ski lift as the resort closes for winter.

Plunged into freezing temperatures and stuck high up, the friends are pushed into ever desperate attempts to get down from the lift – made all the harder due to the wild wolves that have spotted them. The film is tense, terrifying and has all the hallmarks of a great winter horror movie.

Frozen received generally positive reviews upon release, and even won a Saturn Award for Best Horror.
