The Movie: The long, long, long awaited MMORPG adaptation will arrive this summer with the best chance of breaking the video game curse. Duncan Jones, the genius behind Moon and Source Code and long-time gamer, is calling the shots and the film has doubled-down on authentically bringing the world of Azeroth to life. Original Release Date: 18th December 2015 Second Release Date: 11th March 2016 Final Release Date: 10th June 2016 Why Did It Change: Odd for a massive blockbuster (if not smaller movies), Warcraft's release date moved not once, but twice. The initial change, from December 2015 to March 2016, was quite clearly to avoid unwinnable competition with Star Wars: The Force Awakens (hoards of gamers are nothing on Star Wars fans), but quite exactly why is was shifted again was never clarified. Odds are it was to put the movie in the best possible release position to make as much money as it can (this is intended to be the start of a multi-film franchise, after all), although it also gives extra time to get those extensive visual effects up to the best possible standard.
