The Maze Runner book and film franchise quickly became a hit for teens and young adults alike, written by James Dashner and closely followed by the movies from 2015-2018.

Following a science fiction narrative about young teens hoping to change their own dystopian future after being stuck inside the confides of a maze for the first movie, fans across the world waited for the final instalment of the franchise that was delayed nearly a year after a horrific on set accident that left protagonist actor Dylan O'Brien hospitalised.

In the film's climax sequence involving cars and a train track, O'Brien was attached to a vehicle on a harness. The young actor was in the process of climbing across when his own connector securely in place to protect him from falling yanked him underneath the car, dragging him underneath it whilst it slowed to a halt because of it's difference in speed to the vehicle in front .

He suffered concussion, facial fractures and possible broken bones in other parts of his body. Part of the sequence still remains in the film when finally released in the next year.
