6. Has Marvel Officially Perfected Digital De-Aging?

Captain Marvel will feature more pervasive use of digital de-aging technology than any prior film in the MCU.

Though many films in the franchise have used the mind-boggling tech for single flashback scenes, this movie will ambitiously re-jig Samuel L. Jackson's entire performance to make his Nick Fury two decades younger, along with Agent Coulson also.

From the brief flashes we see of Fury's face in close-up, the results look jaw-droppingly good: the uncanny valley effect visible in earlier efforts feels pretty much completely absent, and it therefore looks more convincing than ever before.

This shouldn't encourage Marvel Studios to start using the tech just for the sake of it, but it's certainly good to know it's at an extremely high standard for more complex and comprehensive use.

Plus, the rest of the film industry is no doubt fascinated - and possibly terrified - to see how digital de-aging will eventually be demployed on a wider scale.
