7. What Exactly Is Carol's Origin Story?

Carol Danvers' half-human, half-Kree comic book origin story is obviously well-documented, but given Marvel Studios' habit of deviating from established superhero lore, we can't just assume this movie will follow it to the letter.

The teaser is pretty vague about exactly what happened to Carol, but it appears that she had something of a "past life", where she trained as an Air Force pilot, somehow got caught up with the Kree, had her memory wiped and became a soldier for them. She's then forced to confront her old past when she literally crashes back on Earth in the 90s-set portion of the film.

If it does indeed turn out that Carol was kidnapped and brainwashed by the Kree, it could very well tie into the fact that she appears to be working with both Ronan (Lee Pace) and Korath (Djimon Hounsou) before they become card-carrying rogues later in life.

Then again, this could all be misdirection and we're just totally off the mark. Wait and see.
