8. The Wolverine
Budget: $120 millon Fanboys, unite with outrage! I'm sorry but I was not a fan of The Wolverine. Maybe my expectations were just too high being such a fan of the character and comic book movies in general. What I expected was a fast paced action adventure movie and what I got was a long, drawn out story that didn't feature any villains of significant relevance. I wasn't a fan of the Jean Grey flashbacks, nor was I a fan of the lack of cameos in the movies. Maybe I'm alone on this one but I thought The Wolverine was going to be much more gruesome, action packed, and thrilling than it's predecessor X-Men Origins: Wolverine. To me the movie started to get really boring, especially the scenes that involved his 'love interest' Mariko. Again, I think this falls into the category of my expectations being too high but c'mon, the main villains were Viper and an old guy named Yashida. You're telling me Marvel couldn't come up with more significant, relevant villains that us fanboys couldn't sink our teeth into? The action sequences seemed too spread out as I wanted to see Wolverine gut as many people as possible. He is an anti-hero after all. However I knew that wouldn't be possible as the studios cowardly gave it a PG-13 rating. While the movie has BARELY been profitable in the states, it's done quite well oversees which means we're more than likely to see Wolverine's saga continue. I just hope they do it right next time. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll include another X-Men or two! P.S. Hugh Jackman, if you're reading this (and of course you are) you owe me 10 bucks.
