3. Jack The Giant Slayer
Budget: $195 million I'll be the first one to admit that when this movie came out I was incredibly excited. That excitement immediately turned into disappointment and bitterness the minute I left the theater. The story follows a peasant named Jack. He comes across some magic beans that he promises to keep safe. On one rainy night, one of the beans is jarred loose from it's obviously incredibly unsafe place of keeping, and falls into the ground. The bean turns into a massive beanstalk, opening up the gateway between humans and the giants. The plot involves Jack saving the princess who's been captured by the giants. As Jack sets off on his quest, a few warriors decide to join him. So they begin to climb this massive beanstalk, which of course takes days. During this, there's A LOT of plot filling conversations with little to no action. The movie just has a lot of dead spots. By the way, for someone who's considered a giant slayer, there aren't too many fighting scenes, especially ones that involve the slaying of actual giants. The highlight of the film is of course during it's final scene. The giants finally descend from the bean stalk in hopes of killing the humans. A battle ensues, blah blah blah, the humans win. What a surprise... All in all, the movie just blew. After hearing it cost almost 200 million bucks to make, I just felt bad for anyone involved in the film. At least we know there won't be a sequel. Excuse me, Mr. CEO of Warner Brothers, if you're reading this (why wouldn't you be?) I'll make a sequel that's even better for only 100 bucks. Tweet me.
