If something makes a lot of money, it doesn't necessarily mean that it deserved to. In fact, a large amount of the highest-grossing movies ever probably didn't deserve to make as much cash as they actually did, especially when you consider that established classics like Citizen Kane, It's A Wonderful Life and Blade Runner all performed terribly at the box office, despite the fact that they're awesome. Which is another way of saying: lots of money doesn't equate to lots of quality. And 2014 is certified proof of that theory. The top 10 highest-grossing movies of this particular year are an interesting bunch - an eclectic bunch if ever there was one, consisting of superhero classics, a couple of overblown CG-orientated snoozefests, average sequels, worthwhile sequels, sequels that nobody expected, and - of course - a couple of memorable animated flicks, too. What do all these pictures have in common, then, except for the fact that they made a ton of money over the course of 2014? Quite simply, they are all inherently flawed products. Which shouldn't deter you from seeking out at least half of the movies mentioned on the following list, of course, given that most of them are well worth the price of admission. On the other hand, some of the flaws inherent to a few of the flicks mentioned here render them useless and inessential to your life in general.
