10 Biggest Flaws Of The 10 Highest-Grossing Movies Of 2014

7. Boring Human Characters - Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes

Box Office Gross: $708,279,489 It's true that the centrepiece of any movie titled "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" should be... well, the apes, but would it have hurt the filmmakers behind this surprisingly great sequel to have given the movie an added dose of awesome by implementing some genuinely interesting human characters? Sure, both Gary Oldman and Jason Clarke do their best, but their performances here are mostly workmanlike. Which is to say, by the time the picture's over, you don't really remember any of the human beings featured in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes: whilst Andy Serkis' Caesar fixates on the brain, Oldman's villain feels entirely forgettable. Our hero, Jason Clarke, on the other hand, is so generic in his make-up that you won't even remember his name. It's "Malcolm," by the way. They actually went with "Malcolm."
