Throughout the Loki series on Disney+, The Time-Keepers were hyped up as being the sole leaders of the Time Variance Authority (TVA), an organization that policed the timeline and forced events to play out in a specific way, what they called The Sacred Timeline.

Loki and Sylvie finally forced their way to The Time-Keepers and killed them, only to find that they were merely androids controlled by someone much more powerful. This may not have been much of a surprise to devout comic book fans, as The Time Keepers in the comics were also created by He Who Remains, a Variant of Kang The Conqueror, though it was not yet known if the movies would follow this same plotline.

After The Time-Keepers were shown to be fake propaganda machines for the TVA, fans went wild and theories immediately began circulating about He Who Remains finally appearing in the MCU. This was finally confirmed later in the series and, although he was quickly killed by Sylvie, his story is likely far from over, given his comments about the power of his Variants.
