10 Biggest Missed Opportunities In MCU History

3. Planet Hulk

Ever since The Avengers reinvented The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) as a major breakout character, fans have been requesting that he get another solo movie, yet alas, it's never come to pass.

The most obvious subject matter for a new Hulk movie is the beloved Planet Hulk comic book arc, where Hulk is banished to an alien planet and becomes a gladiator.

Aspects of this storyline were of course adapted in Thor: Ragnarok, but it was ultimately a relatively piecemeal treatment given that this was a Thor movie after all.

Between 2008's The Incredible Hulk under-performing at the box office and the character's solo movie rights being tied up with Universal, there are obvious logistical obstacles to making another Hulk movie.

That said, the character's immense popularity post-Avengers, and his departure from Earth at the end of Age of Ultron, really seemed to be setting up a Planet Hulk movie which sadly never materialised.

Given that the comic has now been given a half-measure adaptation in another superhero's movie, though, there's no chance we'll ever see the MCU give it the full-board treatment.
