10 Biggest Mistakes In The DC Extended Universe We Can't Forgive
2. Watering Down The Birds Of Prey
Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey (that was its new title after the movie underperformed with the confusing original version) was actually a pretty solid flick, albeit one fans failed to really connect with. Despite being billed as a "Birds of Prey" adventure, it was, in reality, a Harley Quinn solo outing with a handful of heroes better known to comic book readers as the Birds of Prey.
Huntress, Renee Montoya, Black Canary, and Cassandra Cain (a.k.a. Batgirl) were fun to spend time with, but all watered down, and not really the characters from the source material. Yes, they were teased during the final few minutes, but that wasn't overly satisfying, and the fact Barbara Gordon/the original Batgirl was M.I.A. was unforgivable for most.
This wasn't the right way to introduce the Birds of Prey to the DCEU, something proven by those all-important box office numbers. They could have starred in a series of movies and spinoffs, but the interest is no longer there, and Harley Quinn has also been massively devalued as a character. Ultimately, this can probably be blamed on Warner Bros. inability to plan for the future.
