10 Biggest Mistakes Made By MCU Heroes
2. The Creation Of Ultron
Terrified of another alien attack, Tony convinced Bruce Banner to help him use the Mind Stone to create an AI, and thereby ensure "peace in our time." They ignored the warnings of countless sci-fi movies in the process.
In a plot development that pretty much anyone else could have seen coming, Ultron decided to rebel against his creators and wipe out humanity. He came perilously close to succeeding. His attempted genocide resulted in the deaths of Pietro Maximoff and many civilians, and the survivors of Sokovia were left without a homeland when their stricken country was cannibalised by its neighbours.
Although Tony and Bruce had good intentions, their decision reeked of folly and hubris. Ignoring the fact that the creation of artificial life posed an enormous risk and represented an ethical minefield, Tony arrogantly dismissed potential dissenting voices as “the man was not meant to meddle medley."
The two scientists also failed to disclose their experiments with the stone to their fellow Avengers, further highlighting their arrogance and unwise lack of trust. Ultron's legacy continued to haunt the team in the form of the Sokovia Accords, which fostered division between them and branded numerous Avengers as criminals.
