10 Biggest Mistakes In The Marvel Cinematic Universe
5. Funny How?
If you were to conduct a survey to determine the funniest moments in The Avengers, it would be a surprise if Mark Ruffalos enormous green rage monster didnt take the top spot and a few behind it. The Hulks Loki smash, brutal bedside manner and out-of-the-green, blindside hammer blow on Thor were laugh-out-loud funny, proving that theres always a place for humour no matter the situation or stakes. A place, not pride of place. Tony Stark is always good for a quip and Guardians had a refreshing, entirely appropriate comic sensibility, but the fact remains that Joker cards have sometimes been overplayed in the MCU, and to debilitating effect. The most egregious offender is surely Thor: The Dark World, in which Darcy a bearable annoyance in the first movie was apparently deemed so hilarious as to warrant her own equally hilarious sidekick. Factor in Erik Selvigs naked Stonehenge escapades and various other gags and the only thing missing is a punch line. Of course, going too far the other way and removing almost every trace of humour can be just as destructive, if not more so one only needs to revisit the unnecessarily dour, po-faced Man Of Steel to confirm as much but overstep the mark and the jokes invariably start wearing thin.
I watch movies and I watch sport. I also watch movies about sport, and if there were a sport about movies I'd watch that too. The internet was the closest thing I could find.
