10 Biggest Mistakes In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

3. Bad Bad Guys

Staying with the Mandarin, it is hard to argue that Guy Pearce€™s Aldrich Killian was anything other than a less-than-inspired Big Bad in Iron Man 3, and he€™s far from the only disappointing villain in the MCU. Whereas Marvel€™s heroes have been well served by their screen incarnations, their evil counterparts €“ with one very obvious exception €“ tend to suffer by comparison. Loki has shown himself to be the gift that keeps on giving, elevating three Marvel movies to date with his skulduggery and will to power. However, The God of Mischief aside, the characters tasked with bringing down Earth€™s Mightiest Heroes have often fallen flat. Both Ivan Vanko and Justin Hammer underwhelmed in Iron Man 2, Timothy Roth€™s Abomination lived up to his billing in The Incredible Hulk, the Red Skull was underserved in The First Avenger, and Malekith the Uninteresting was instantly forgettable. Guardians Of The Galaxy, for all its qualities, didn€™t fare much better. Ronan the Accuser looked imposing enough but wasn€™t given enough motivation or individuality to elevate him above also-ran, Nebula was a non-starter, and Thanos was, for obvious reasons, barely there. To be fair, Thanos could yet prove to be a revelation €“ and he will have to come the Infinity Wars €“ and Ultron€™s looking good so far, but the MCU needs a better class of criminal.

I watch movies and I watch sport. I also watch movies about sport, and if there were a sport about movies I'd watch that too. The internet was the closest thing I could find.
