10 Biggest Mistakes Suicide Squad Has Already Made
10. It's Not R-Rated
The rather obvious fact that Suicide Squad will be rated PG-13 was confirmed several months ago, disappointing many fans who hoped that such a harshly violent comic book series would get a similarly brutal movie, especially given that every previous movie from director David Ayer has been R-rated. Though the financial motivations speak for themselves, Deadpool proved that R-rated comic book films have an audience with the right style and tone, along with a superb marketing campaign. Given how Suicide Squad is comprised of a gang of murderers, for the movie to be able to actually show savage violence would have potentially taken the likes of The Joker to the next level, and further helped differentiate DC's product from the Marvel Cinematic Universe: the "adult" alternative. In terms of business, the movie won't suffer for PG-13 and in fact quite the opposite, but the demented potential of seeing these characters at their most disturbing has been effectively squandered. We can pray for an unrated cut in the future, but don't hold your breath.
