9. Casting Joel Kinnaman & Jai Courtney

Though the likes of Jared Leto, Margot Robbie and Viola Davis seem absolutely spot on for their respective roles, there are a few casting choices that aren't so convincing. Firstly, there's Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, for while Kinnaman's a decent actor all the same, he ended up replacing Tom Hardy, who had to duck out due to a shooting overrun on The Revenant. Almost anytime Tom Hardy gets replaced in a movie, the stand-in is going to be a disappointment. Far more troubling is the presence of Jai Courtney, who has already caught the ire of Die Hard and Terminator fans for his lacklustre performances in those franchise sequels, not to mention a Hollywood CV without much remarkable to speak of at all, and a general feeling that studios are trying to turn him into the next Sam Worthington. Courtney plays Captain Boomerang in the movie, and though to be fair the image of him cracking open a can of beer mid-battle is pretty damn hilarious, the odds are still against him for pulling this off, considering his fairly atrocious track record so far. At least Boomerang will likely take a backseat to the group's more colourful and iconic characters, so he shouldn't sink the film outright even if he is terrible.
