Believe it or not, Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the most anticipated films of the year. It's obviously Marvel's biggest risk to date, being based off of a comic that no-one outside of the truly die-hard fan community has ever heard of; and features a team of intergalactic misfits that may not sit well with casual audiences. We have Chris Pratt as the human Star-Lord, the green-skinned assassin Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Groot the walking tree-man, and Rocket, the walking, talking, gun-wielding Raccoon. After months of anticipation, Marvel debut the first trailer earlier in the week which caught on like wildfire online, spreading far and spreading fast. Soon everyone was talking about it, some on the fence about the out-of-the-box concept, while the majority of fans had extremely high reactions. The trailer did a decent job of introducing the team, but mainly gave us a look at what director James Gunn has in store for Marvel's sci-fi adventure, and it stands to be their most unique film yet. The studio followed up the trailer with the first poster (you're welcome) and several featurettes (featuring the voice of Rocket!), so expect marketing to go into full swing now that the wheels are turning. Marvel is going to need to market the hell out of this thing to get naysayers into the theater.
