5. Matt Reeves Signs On For Planet of the Apes 3

Mattreeves 20th Century Fox surprised audiences in 2011 with the success of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, the prequel/reboot to the long-running Apes franchise. Cloverfield director Matt Reeves was brought in to direct the follow-up, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, after Rise direct Rupert Wyatt dropped out. The teaser trailer for Dawn arrived last month, and boosted audience's excitement enough to make it one of the most anticipated films of the year. Fox must be confident that Reeves has given them another hit because not only is a third film in the works, but Reeves has just signed on to bring it to life. Reeves will co-write the screenplay along with Mark Bomback, who worked on the Dawn script once Rise writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver left the project. If all goes well, expect the film to arrive in theaters sometime in the summer of 2016.
