3. Shia LeBeouf Retiring From "Public Life"
Shia LeBeouf has fallen under a great deal of scrutiny and Twitter-rage over the last few weeks, after he was caught plagiarizing the work of Daniel Clowes for his short film HowardCantour.com. LaBeouf came under fire when people began to notice that he had adapted Clowe's comic book Justin M. Damiano nearly shot-for-shot without giving the author any sort of credit. As if that weren't enough, LaBeouf then apologized by plagiarizing his apology, taking it word-for-word from an apology on Yahoo Answers. After a seemingly endless array of follow-up apologies on his Twitter account, the actor-turned-amateur-director hired a sky-writer to spell out 'I am sorry Daniel Clowes" in the sky above Los Angeles. After more bizarre reactions (including
this hostile tweet directed at Clowes), LaBeouf announced Friday (via Twitter, of course) that he was "retiring from public life:" The actor has yet to delete his Twitter account, and his actions have come off as more of a tantrum than anything else. He got caught stealing, and what did he do? He stole an apology. And then followed that up by making matters worse and digging himself into a deeper and deeper hole with each passing day. Chances are, he won't stay retired for long, but it's nice to see that he'll at least stop tweeting for a while.
