10 Biggest Movie and TV News This Week (Jan 11)

2. Wonder Woman Will NOT Be Kryptonian

Wonderwoman Speaking of Twitter going haywire, did you notice the immense backlash against possible Wonder Woman rumors earlier this week? Fanboys everywhere loudly protested against the idea that Wonder Woman, and her Amazonian people, were actually Kryptonian descendants, which was initially speculated by Batman On Film's Bill "Jett" Ramey. Now, to be fair, Ramey was clear upfront that the idea was merely speculation, but that didn't stop the internet from picking up his words as "rumor" and spreading it like wildfire. Before long, sites everywhere were reporting the "news," despite Ramey's attempts to clarify. The idea was that the Amazonians were actually descendants of the Kryptonians that crashed on Earth thousands of years ago (and left behind the ship that Clark finds in Man of Steel). Though not a TERRIBLE idea, it is a major departure from WW's mythology, and something that many felt was disrespectful to her character. After all, it would simply be making her a lesser version of Superman, and would imply that moviegoing audiences wouldn't be accepting of her original (and admittedly kind of strange) origin. Luckily, Badass Digest helped ease the tension when they reported that the rumor was, of course, false. So, rest easy, Wonder Woman fans! Diana will in fact NOT be Kryptonian. Hopefully this will be a lesson for all of us to check our facts before getting overly excited about movie rumors, and air on the side of caution when speculating about these projects.
