10 Biggest Movie And TV News This Week (Jan 18th)

7. Magic: The Gathering Movie In Development

Magic Hasbro has been enjoying success on the big screen with numerous films either already released (Transfomers, G.I. Joe, Battleship) and in development (Ouija, Candy Land, Hungry Hungry Hippos). Yes, that second list of movies is (unfortunately) a real list of upcoming Hasbro films, and now we can add Magic: The Gathering to that list. According to THR, 20th Century Fox has acquired the film rights to the hit fantasy card game and have hired Simon Kinberg to act as franchise engineer. 20th Century Fox is no doubt hoping to not only cash in on the game's massive success, but on the success of the fantasy film genre as well and think they might have a Lord of the Rings-size franchise on their hands. The potential is definitely there, and a Magic: The Gathering movie sounds a lot more promising than an adaptation of Hungry Hungry Hippos (which we're still hoping gets stuck in development hell. Forever).
